La Foresteria Wine Resort reopens: the aromatic herb garden at the heart of the new season

The new hospitality season by Planeta begins with the reopening of La Foresteria Wine Resort. This year, more than ever, everything revolves around the garden and the surrounding landscape: a nature that yields its fruits—wine, olive oil, aromatic herbs, and the vegetable garden..

On Friday, March 27, 2026, the new hospitality season signed by Planeta officially began. It is a widespread mosaic of experiences and places, focused on wellbeing and the rediscovery of aromatic herbs as a narrative thread in food and wine culture.

Everything starts here: the Aromatic Garden, a symbolic place, enhanced this year by the publication of the notebook “The Garden of La Foresteria – Herbs to Discover with the Senses,” with texts by Francesca Planeta and beautiful botanical illustrations by Marianna Merisi.

The volume invites readers to observe plants, recognize their scents, experiment with their uses in everyday life, and discover their benefits. In this botanical narrative, plants become experiential and storytelling elements that strengthen the connection between nature, territory, and a mindful concept of hospitality deeply rooted in the agricultural landscape surrounding the Foresteria.

The dialogue with botanical herbs continues in the gastronomic experiences of the Foresteria, where cuisine becomes a story between memory and the present. On one side, the cuisine of Casa Planeta and the great tradition of the Monsù; on the other, Sicilian popular cuisine and local ingredients—starting with herbs and herbal infusions from the garden—reinterpreted by chef Angelo Pumilia with contemporary sensitivity and technique. Each dish is a fragment of Sicily: authentic, refined, and surprising.

Among the wine tastings, a new experience stands out: Scents of Sicily. From wild Mediterranean vegetation to the Foresteria’s garden, herbs become the key to understanding the aromatic profile of the wines.

Planeta’s story also unfolds through winery experiences. In Ulmo, on the shores of Lake Arancio—where the family’s history began—guests can explore Chardonnay vineyards with the History of Chardonnay tour, a journey dedicated to the wine born right in Ulmo. This year, it celebrates its 30th harvest with a special artist edition featuring the artwork On Fire (2023) by Claire Fontaine.
