La Foresteria Planeta is 2018 “Restaurant of the Year” for Bibenda

This season has established our restaurant’s presence as one of the must-visit destinations for gourmands in Sicily

La Foresteria Planeta Restaurant in Menfi is the “Restaurant of the Year” 2018 according to “Bibenda.”
The recognition was awarded to us in Rome during the annual event for the awarding and tasting of wines and grappas awarded with the “5 bunches” by the Italian Sommelier Foundation (in the case of Planeta, Cometa 16 and Dorilli 15). Within the guide dedicated mainly to wines – which this This season has established our restaurant’s presence as one of the must-visit destinations for gourmands in Sicily. And this award comes after the Restaurant’s entry into the prestigious circuit of Le Soste di Ulisse, of which the boutique hotel and all the Planeta wineries were already part, while both Le Guide di Repubblica and Identità Golose have mentioned it among the best in the Island, and the Touring Club has just awarded the Restaurant the “Buona Cucina” award and the hotel the “Stanze Italiane” award. Thus, this season has solidified the presence of La Foresteria Menfi as a reference point for luxury hospitality in Sicily and in particular that of the Restaurant as one of the must-visit destinations for gourmands.

This year, moreover, the Restaurant has offered several novelties to guests. The family tradition, already enclosed in the book “Sicily, the Home Cooking of Planeta”, has also offered numerous à la carte dishes this year, intertwining in a contemporary key with the cuisine of chef Angelo Pumilia, firmly linked to the territory also thanks to the rigorous selection of the best raw materials among the Island’s excellence producers.

From lunch in the Garden Room or by the pool in the height of summer, to the dinner menu that has been enriched with two tasting menus paired with Planeta wines, chef Angelo Pumilia’s dishes have been designed to interpret the seasons – Spring, Summer, Autumn – with an even more careful eye to combine freshness, lightness, and intensity: alongside the aromatic herbs of La Foresteria’s garden, the vegetable garden and fruits have been even more prominent, with regard to health and well-being as well as quality and taste.
